What can you use tea tree oil for? It really depends on what you want to treat, as it is very useful in combating a number of conditions including bad breath, skin problems, genital infections and stress.

If you have thrush or hemorrhoids, you may want to try a sitz bath. Half fill your bath with warm water, add a couple of drops of the oil and relax while the anti fungal and anti bacterial properties go to work. You may need to add an oil dispersant agent to the water or you could find the oil sits on the top which will reduce its effectiveness. You can use it in a douche but Doctors always advise to use this method with caution. If you suffer from recurrent bouts of thrush try increasing the amount of garlic, onions and parsley you eat and drink as much water as you can. Thrush is a yeast called Candida and it thrives on sugar. You will help to cure yourself by removing sugar from your diet so ditch the cakes, biscuits and diet drinks as well as processed meals and takeaways. Those foods are not the best for your body anyway, so making those diet changes can have a two-fold benefit.

You can combine tea tree oil with a carrier oil such as sunflower oil and massage it into your skin following a shower. You might not want to do this if you are going out on a date as the smell can be confused with disinfectant! But it is extremely effective if you suffer from zit outbreaks on your back or shoulders or perhaps around the time of your period.

If you have a sauna in your home, you can add Tea Tree oil to the water you are pouring over the coals and it will help to relieve any signs of cold or flu. It also works if you want to steam your nostrils by placing a drop of the oil in a bowel of hot water and covering your head with a towel. If you have a sore throat, try using it to gargle with. Add a couple of drops to warm water and the anitbacterial properties should begin to work. This is also effective for bad breath and mouth ulcers. You could use it as your daily mouthwash. It kills the bacteria in your mouth that causes the bad breath, thus bringing relief in multiple ways.

If you have cracked infected skin on your hands you could use a drop of this oil in a hand bath to help prevent further infection. If you use olive oil as the carrier oil, you will also get softer skin. Use it in a foot bath if you have athletes foot or other similar fungal infection. This can be an excellent treatment for the younger and older members of your family. There are so many ways to use tea tree oil. Try it for yourself to see how effective it is on your problem areas.
