Has Man Harmed The Earth Or Made It A Better Place To Live In?

Man, with his desire to build and improve the lifestyle for himself, has ignorantly created the ecological imbalance. This is indeed a great concern for the biodiversity. The construction of buildings and technological advancement has apparently improved the lifestyle and comfort of man. But have we ever realized the negative repercussions it could have to the future generation by calculating the long term effects?
So many species like sparrow, tiger, and many species of different birds, animals including terrestrial and aquatic living organisms and plants are either extinct or in the verge of being endangered.
Man should realize that living organisms including plants are vital to their own survival as man needs all these resources for his own benefit like food, medicines, clothes etc. if he could think about using it judiciously and carefully. Over hunting of animals, over fishing and deforestation for his excess luxury and benefits has created and, will continue to create a great imbalance in the environment.
A good example of this one is cutting down of trees for manufacturing papers without planting younger trees of the same kind. Another example is manufacturing of plastics in a huge amount without actually recycling it as plastics are poisonous to soil and a non-biodegradable substance.
This has also led to the newer diseases like widespread cancer, dengue, chikungunia, and many other types of fever. The reason behind this is the improper use of technology, improper way of waste management and creating pollution (in air, water and soil) without appropriate use of 3R’s i.e. not utilizing the products made by him by Reusing, Recycling and Reducing.
Irresponsible mismanagement of wastes without proper recycling paper, plastic, glass and other poisonous / non biodegradable substances made by man himself has created a tremendous imbalance in nature which might not be apparent now. This will be visible, perhaps, in a decade’s time if man does not learn how to control soil pollution, air pollution and water pollution.
This clearly proves that our planet earth is being highly exploited and harmed by ourselves that has also resulted in the global warming, Green house effects, earthquakes etc.
On the other side, man’s life is getting far easier and relaxing to live with amenities & technology like internet, mobiles, microwave.
I don’t think it would be an exaggeration that man has harmed the ecosystem to add to his own benefit. All I ask is that we should learn to be responsible and use our resources and technological benefits more carefully and cautiously without harming the ecosystem. We must also educate younger generation to promote products whether it be food products, automobile, pesticides, detergents etc. that are eco-friendly and conducive to environment.
Let us all hope and strive to make use of 3R rules (i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) and create thriving natural habitat for all living organisms including plants, animals and human beings too by being more aware of the beauty of biodiversity.
